Some Companies Don't Even Know Why They Exist And What's Their Purpose. This Is Not Good

Exactly 7 days ago, we had a conversation with this one entrepreneur who couldn’t tell us why her company exists beyond “to make money.” How amazing is that. It’s hard to build and establish a marketing strategy if the business foundation is not even established. And if you, the entrepreneur, have no more profound reason for your business to exist, what makes you think your customers will care?

Here’s the truth you need to understand—companies without purpose don’t last. You burn through marketing budgets trying to “be seen,” only to be ignored. You begin to copy competitors, chase something popular or ride on certain trends, hoping something will work. But the market nowadays is ruthless. If people can’t connect with what you stand for, they’ll move on to a brand that actually means something.

Strong companies out there that dominate know exactly why they exist. That is exactly why customers don’t just buy from them. They believe in them. If you don’t believe us, just go out there and look deeper into a few favourite brands of yours. You’ll understand what we are trying to say here.

On the other hand, companies without purpose operate like a headless chicken. There is no sense of direction. No story and no narrative can be built out of that. Customers don’t stick around. Employees feel uninspired. Without a clear reason for existing, every decision feels like a short-term fix rather than a step toward something meaningful. In the end, you will struggle to compete even on discounts while others can command premium prices. You see, purpose makes a brand strong, irreplaceable and memorable. Without it, you’re just another option in a crowded market, easily forgotten and replaced by the next cheapest alternative.

So, if your company feels like it’s stuck, ask yourself again: Why do we exist in the first place? If the answer is weak, fix it. Or get help. Because without purpose, you’re just another company making noise. And no one remembers noise.
